Cleveland Browns TE Randall Telfer and friends pay a visit to Brook Park Recreation Center

When Cleveland Browns TE Randall Telfer made a return visit back to the Brook Park Recreation Center little did he realize that he would be on the receiving end of gifts from his group of fans. The two year Tight End out of USC had brought fellow Tight Ends David Njoku, Seth De Valve and J.P. Holtz (Practice Squad) to help distribute backpacks filled with school supplies “to ensure the kids have the resources needed to be successful in and outside of the classroom.” All of the children in attendance were participants in the local football and cheerleading program put on by the recreation center. The four players took time off from their off day in order to participate.

As a show of appreciation for his work with the center, Telfer was made an honorary “Titan” and presented with his own jersey with his name and #86 emblazoned on the back. To help set off this sporty fashion statement he was also awarded a ball cap with the Titan emblem proudly displayed. Representatives from each team in the program then delivered individual thank you notes that he gratefully accepted.

Lastly, a large copper etched plaque was presented that stated “Randall Telfer #86 The City of Brook Park would like to thank you for generously sponsoring the “Back to School Event” for our kids and community! We wish you continued success and the best of luck with your football career with our beloved Cleveland Browns.”

After the presentations a high light film was shown as a tribute to the #86. It was then time to distribute the school packs to the 95 students in attendance followed by a pizza party for the children. As this was going on the four players went from table to table signing autographs on supplied pennants supplied by the team as well as Browns memorabilia brought by the students. The event was topped off with the combined cheer leading squad giving a rousing cheer as a salute to the four NFL professionals.

The visit is part of Cleveland Browns Give Back through the First and Ten Initiative of which #give10is a part of. Launched in June of 2014 this community based program is designed to inspire fans to register on the Cleveland Browns web site (click on “Community”) and then donate ten hours of community volunteer work in their local communities. Once the ten hours are completed they are invited to return to the site and share their experiences.

The Cleveland Browns are the only team in the NFL that promotes a long-term volunteer program designed to unify the team with its fan base.
