Canton Charge makes short work of the Long Island Nets

Taking another quote from the book of ‘Yoggi-isms” this game could have been called, “It was deja vu all over again” as the Canton Charge (6-6), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers set offensive franchise records against a very physical Long Island nets (8-4)at the memorial Civic Center Thursday evening.

The game began much like the last home game when Canton raced ahead in the first three quarters to a 22 point lead only to lose n the final minutes. This time it was different as they hung tough right to the end.

At times it looked more like a hockey game as the teams traded blows. Nets player Dzana Musa reportedly even lost a tooth in the melee. The Charge eneded the game with a franchise high 83 poiints in the first half and ended the game at 151 points. The 83 points was a record set back in February of 2012. The team was on fire as they hit 60% in the first half and turned the ball over just three times. Out of 62 field goals there were 33 recorded assists as Scoochie Smith led with a franchise best 16 assists for the evening that tied Quinn Cook’s record.

A total of four Canton players hit for 20+ with Bonzie Colson II leading the way with 11 boards in 24 minutes as he earned his fourth double-double of the season. Levi Randolph hit for 25 on 10-of-13 shooting in 34 minutes off the bench. JaCorey Williams also charged off the bench to hit for 20on 10-of-11 shooting in 26 minutes. Kobi Simmons went on to score 20 points also in 27 minutes.

On the Nets end of the arena it was Kami Murphy leading the long Island team with 25 points and 12 rebounds with two blocks in 33 minutes and Dzanan Musa scoring 22 points in 26 minutes while on assignment from Brooklyn.

The Canton Charge are at home again this Saturday with the first 2,000 fans receiving a Charge fleece blanket courtesy of The Salvation Army as the team holods its Holiday Celebration game.
