Canton Charge puts up a valiant fight against a team of ringers
In a word the Canton Charge (2-1), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, were simply outplayed on both ends of the court as they lost 111-97 against the Windy City Bulls (2-1) during a Friday evening contest at the Canton memorial Civic Center.
Using an Ally-Oop Slam Dunk combination the Bulls took an early lead which held the entire game taking the score up to a 25 point lead at one time. Considering that the opposing team was packed with professional NBA players the Charge held their own in this lightening fast game.
To their credit, the Charge fought tough right to the end with Sir ‘Dominic Pointer leading Canton off the bench with a season best 22 points with five steals and five rebounds I 31 minutes. J.P. Macura was close behind with 19 points and four steals in 24 minutes with twoway player Dean Wade hit for eight as he scored 18 points in 35 minutes. The Bulls’ 111 score was the highest for an opponent so far this season.
Windy City was loaded up with NBA regulars that included P.J. Dozier and Bol Bol from the Denver Nuggets and Adam Mokoka and Max Strus from the Chicago Bulls who totaled 58 points combined. Danial Gafford, on assignment from the Chicago Bulls added 20 points with a game high 13 rebonds in 29 minutes of action. It is a wonder that there was any room on the Windy City Bulls for any G-League players. Over all the Bulls shot 55% from the floor with 44.4% from the three point arc.
With the three game home stand ending Canton hits the road for their first away game as they travel to visit the Delaware Blue Coats tonight (Saturday, November 16th) at 7:00 p.m. the team returns home for two games next week as Canton Memorial Civic Center once again hosts WINSday on November 20th at 7 p.m. as the Charge battle the Erie Bay Hawks and on Friday, November 22nd which is 1-2-3 night hosted by Sugardale where fans can purchase $1 hot dogs, $2 Pepsi products and $3 select beers.
Charge is part of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization and is also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Chairman and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, who play their games at Rocket Mortgage Field House in downtown Cleveland.
