The Great Big Home + Garden Show is a breath of spring
Thus far this has been one of the mildest winters in recent memory but as everyone in the Great Lakes Region is well aware of...it is far from over. This is in spite of what the groundhog tells us. So how do we steel ourselves through to spring? One way is to catch a little indoor springtime at The Great Big Home + Garden Show now on display at the Cleveland I-X Center.
This year’s garden theme is “One Tank Trips” as presented by twelve of Northeast Ohio’s top landscapers. In the garden showcase area located in the southwest area of the I-X Center you can take a hike through Hocking Hills, visit a lighthouse on Put-in-Bay or take a stroll through Tremont, explore Granger Township or marvel at a salute to Falling Waters. The extensive garden displays are a a marvel of outdoor architecture that delight the mind and soul.
At the north end of the exhibition at the Fox 8 Stage various high profile speakers and experts will be presented including Laura LeBoutillier, Margie Grace, Stephanie Paganini and Matt Fox. Visit the show website for times.
Other not to miss attractions include Club Cambria where you can pause to wine and nosh in the middle of the hall, “Keep Calm And Leap On” located in the garden showcase that allows you to vote on celebrity decorated frogs as well as bid on one to take home (proceeds to benefit the Ronald McDonald house of Cleveland), “Homes That Roam” RV showcase (booths #1575 and #1587) showing the newest innovations in living on wheels, “The Long Putt Contest” at Booth #773 with an undulating green built by Keepers Turf where you can test your putting skills. Daily winners will be invited back for the last day of the show to putt for prizes.
Playground World Kid’s Zone includes, slides, swings, basketball hoops and the world’s safest fully enclosed spring free trampoline. There is also a drawing for parents to win three high quality products, Home Depot Kid’s Workshop at booth #869 where youngsters can build a project to take home as well as an authentic home Depot orange apron, the Cleveland Skyline in flowers greets you at the entrance where you can do a photo op or selfie and Instagram your photos to @ohiohomeshows or Twitter @greatbigshow, and for those wishing to take some springtime home they can stop at the Blossom Cleveland booth and purchase some flowers on their way out.
As in years past, complete model homes will be open for touring including Weaver Barns Backyard Oasis, Xtend Technologies Home Theater and Backyard Entertainment Center, Idea Home Landscaper and Weaver’s Fine Furniture of Sugarcreek.
As for exhibitors there are over 520 booths for you to check out and gather information on your next home project. Just be sure to bring your comfortable walking shoes as the show takes up most of the expansive I-X Center. It’s a treat for the entire family with things to do for all ages.
