Canton Charge overshadow the Northern Arizona Suns

Slow and steady stays the course. This was the theme last night as the Canton Charge (22-13) defeated the Northern Arizona Suns (8-27) 106-94 in their first game since the All-Star break. The game took place at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Wednesday evening with 2118 fans present.

Canton began the game with a 6-0 advantage with four points coming from Two-Way player Matt Mooney. Although there were some tense times during the game, the Charge was able to lead from gate to finish as they chalked up their sixth straight home victory. It was also the first time since December 13, 2019 that Canton held their opponent to under 100 points.

Marques Bolden earned his sixth double-double of the season hitting for 19 points with 14 rebounds and five blocks. In total there were five Charge players scouring double digit including Mooney for 18 points in 39 minutes, Sheldon Mac off the bench for 17 points in 39 minutes and hitting 50% from the floor in 24 minutes. Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman and Malik Newman tied at 13 points each while Sir ‘Dominic Pointer was good for 10 points and four steals.

On the Sunny side of the street it was Ike Nwamu leading the Suns with 19 points with 7-for-11 shooting in 29 minutes. He was follwed by Jalen Lecque with 15 points and 5 boards. Aaron Epps managed to grab 11 rebounds and hit for seven points.

Canton will be out of town for a pair of games as they pay a visit to the Delaware Blue Coats on Thursday, February 21, 2020 at 7 p.m. and against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 3 p.m. The teams returns home on February 25, 2020 to battle the College Park Sky Hawks with tip-off at 7 p.m.

The Canton Charge is part of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization and is also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Chairman and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, who play their games at Rocket Mortgage Field House in downtown Cleveland.
