Canton Charge shows that third time is a charm as they defeat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in Cleveland

For the third time in three seasons the Canton Charge have traveled to the “big house on the lake” to do battle. The first two trips ended in unmitigated disasters as the team was simply out played. That was then but this is now as journey north had a different team bent on a different conclusion.

The Canton Charge (27-13), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, overpowered the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (18-22), 111-106 as 8,347 fans took the hour plus drive from Canton to the Rocket Mortgage Field House on Sunday afternoon. The victory was Head Coach Nate Reinking’s 100th career victory as well as Canton’s ninth home win in a row and sixth straight overall.

Sir ‘Dominic Pointer led the Charge with a season high 26 points along with nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 31 minutes on the court. Dean Wade followed with 19 points, six boards and five assists as well as two powerful blocks in 29 minutes. Marques Bolden earned yet another double-double (his seventh of the season) with 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 19 minutes.

From the bug’s eye view it was Pacer’s assignment Alize Johnson with 22 points and 13 rebounds in 30 minutes, Goga Bitadze also on assignment from Indiana earning a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds in 33 minutes. Brian Bowen II also scored a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards in 36 minutes. This game saw the Canton Charge dominate the four game series 3-1 as Canton improved to 21-6 overall at home against the Mad Ants.

The home team gets a short rest before getting back on court for their annual School Day game this coming Wednesday, March 4, 2020 with an early tip-off of 11 a.m.

The Canton Charge is part of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization and is also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Chairman and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, who play their games at Rocket Mortgage Field House in downtown Cleveland.
