Cleveland Charge defang the Iowa Wolves
The Iowa Wolves (2-3) took an early lead right from the start but the Cleveland Charge (5-1) managed to stay within reach. The short handed Cleveland team trailed 57-52 at the half but came out of the locker room with a renewed vitality as they hit 12-of-20 shots from the field for 60%. Towards the end of the third quarter the Charge took the lead with a Chandler Vaudrin cutting layup taking their lead to the end of the game. As the clock wound down Cleveland put on the jets and simply outplayed and outscored Iowa to close out the game with another victory at 119-108.
Sharife Cooper tied two Charge franchise records for most points in a quarter (23) and most points in a half (31). Cooper finished the game with 40 points on 15-of-20 from the field and 8-of-10 from the three point arc in 40 minutes of play. Two-Way Player Mamadi Diakite made his Cleveland Charge debut scoring 23 points on 8-of-13 from the field with seven rebounds and two steals in 38 minutes on the court. Isaiah Mobley scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 33 minutes.
Minnesota assignment Luka Garza was good for 21 points and six rebounds while Josh Minott posted a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds in 39 minutes for Iowa. Emmanuel Mudiay scored 20 points and five steals in 40 minutes. It was a fast and furious game as the Wolves turned over the ball over 17 times for 30 points while the Charge suffered 21 turnovers that resulted in 23 points.
