Cleveland Charge defeat Toronto Raptors 905 in grand fashion
It was all DEFENSE, Baby! The Cleveland Charge (12-15) fought hard to defeat the Toronto Raptors 905 (11-18) 116-106 as 3,063 faithful looked on at the Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland, Ohio on Friday evening.
Actually, it was stellar play on both ends of the court as Cleveland put on a show of great shooting skill. It was an exciting game from start to finish.
For Cleveland it was Zhaire Smith leading everyone with 33 points on 7-of-10 from the arc and 13-of 17 from the field along with two steals and two blocks in 38 minutes. Sharife Cooper earned a double-double with 29 points and 12 assists in 36 minutes. Dibaji Walker made good with 16 points and nine rebounds in 28 minutes in 28 minutes of relief off the bench. The win snaps a six game losing streak against the Raptors 905.
With Toronto, they had seven players scoring in double figures led by Makur Maker scoring a team high 21 along with 11 rebounds in 28 minutes. Former Charge player G Kobi Simmons earned a double-double as well of 16 points and 10 assists in 36 minutes.
The two teams meet again on Sunday, March 17, 2024 with an early 4:00 p.m. tip-off. At this game, the Cleveland Charge will honor the best fan base of the NBA G League with their annual Cleveland Salute Night. The first 1,500 ticket holders will receive a Caris LeVert Bobblehead. It is also Charge Kids Day. There will also be full team autographs and psotgame free throws following the contest.
