Cleveland Charge hang on to the end for eighth win in a row




The Cleveland Charge (8-1) out played the Capital City Go-Go (8-4) in the final seconds with an 111-107 victory at CSU’s Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland on Sunday afternoon.


The score was pretty even at the half but Cleveland went on a tear racking up points to pull ahead by double digits. As the fourth quarter began Cleveland was out in front by 17 points. They held this lead until midway into the fourth quarter the Go-Gos began chipping away. With a mere 1:03 left in the game, Capital City managed to pull within two points but the Charge held firm, scoring on their final three possessions to close out the game with a win.


On scoring it was Cleveland having a trio of 20+ point scorers. Isaiah Mobley had a game high 26 points with 9-of-14 from the field along with eight rebounds in 36 minutes. Sharife Cooper hit for 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting with nine assists in 33 minutes. Mamadi Diakite added 20 points on 8-of-13 from the field with five rebounds in 36 minutes on the court. Jamorko Pickett came off the bench to contribute 18 points, six rebound, two blocks and two steals in 35 minutes.


At the other end of the arena it was Jordan Goodwin with 20 points, seven rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes. Trevion Williams and Quenton Jackson matched for 15 points each for the Go-Gos.


The Cleveland Charge have two back to back games this week as they battle the College Park Skyhawks (Atlanta Hawks) on Tuesday, January 24th (6:00 p.m. tip-off) and Wednesday, January 25th (7:00 p.m. tip-off). Tickets start at just $5. For more information go to www.clevelandcharge.com.
