Cleveland Charge hit the wall against a strong Delaware Blue Jackets team
Fact of the matter is the Cleveland Charge were simply outplayed in every form of the game. The Delaware Blue Coats had our number as they out rebounded Cleveland as well as stealing the ball right out of our player’s hands over and over again.
The Cleveland Charge (4-9) of the NBA G League, presented by Cleveland Clinic, were defeated on their home court at the Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland by the Delaware Blue Coats (17-6), 130-118.
In spite of the fact that three Cleveland players scored over 20 points each it was all for naught. Tacko Fall earned his 10th double-double of the season with 23 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in 24 minutes. Malik Newman had his fourth twenty plus points game netting 23 points on 8-of-14 from the field with four assists in 36 minutes. Cam Young earned his first double-double with the team scoring 23 points and 10 boards combined with two steals in 39 minutes. Justin James added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes. Josh Huestis added 13 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench.
On the Delaware side of the river it was Jaden Springer (on assignment from the 76ers) scoring a game high 30 points combined with nine rebounds, six assists and seven steals in 33 minutes. Shamorie Ponds came off the bench to net 23 points, five boards and three steals in 24 minutes. Also on assignment from Philadelphia was Charles Bassey who added 21 points on 9-of-12 from the filed with seven rebounds and 24 minutes.
