The 2022 Cleveland Auto Show is a great winter break for the family
It’s February in Cleveland, Ohio. That means a brief two day thaw with temperatures in the high 50s followed by an ice storm with a couple of inches of snow added for good measure because...well...it is Cleveland.
It is also time for the 2022 Cleveland Auto Show, presented by Huntington Bank and housed in the I-X Center through March 6, 2022. Thus if you are able to rescue your entombed vehicle from the half inch of ice and two inches of snow covering it you were probably among the throngs of people streaming into the show as it opened at 5 p.m. today as part of Dealership Employee Appreciation Night presented by Spectrum Reach.
As usual there is lots to see at the Cleveland Auto Show. You have classic cars, new model cars, miniature cars, car giveaways, car test drives, go-karts, car trivia games, race cars, really really expensive cars, rare cars as well as lots of good food and drink to purchase.
This year’s show also features not one, not two but three test tracks sponsored by Ram Truck, Camp Jeep and Ford Bronco Truck. Strap yourself in as a professional driver takes you on a nearly impossible ride where you apparently only need three wheels to touch the ground and the high hill gives you a panoramic view of the entire show. You will find the vehicle going up and down at crazy angles, through sand and for a quick dip in water p to the hubs and bumpers. Afterwards you receive a nice parting gift for your bravery.
Millionaire’s Row returns with a selection of high end cars such as Aston Martin, Bentley and Rolls Royce that mere mortals can only stare at and dream. New this year is Recharge Rally that is showcasing all electric versions of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and more that are built to excite. There is also the Triple F Collection that will get your heart racing as you find yourself feet away from Bugatti, Koenigsegg and McLaren automobiles that are among the rarest vehicles in the world.
The show features displays of the newest models from the top manufacturers including Ford (with Bronco Truck), Subaru, Genesis, Volvo, Cadillac, Lincoln, Lexus, Nissan, Acura, Infinity, Hyundai, Mazda, Volkswagon, Toyota, Kia, Honda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Chevrolet, Honda and Buick GMC. You can also take a test drive with the following manufacturers: Subaru, Toyota, Chrysler and Chevy. There is also an entire line of merchandising booths on the south end of the building featuring both automotive and non-automotive products.
If your a classic car nut like I am be sure to check out the rows upon rows of beautifully restored cars that includes everything from muscle cars to VW Beetles, antique cars and rare funny runabouts. While there say hello to the folks manning the Hagerty Mobile Insurance Agency who specialize in the insuring of classic cars.
During the course of the show there will be a slew of special days. Monday, February 28th is Family Day, presented by Medical Mutual. Children 15 and under get in free with paid adult admission. Tuesday, March 1st is T-Shirt Day with the first 2,500 attendees receiving a limited edition Cleveland Auto Show T-Shirt. Wednesday, March 2nd has the show distributing 2,500 ice scrapers which should be in high demand this year. That same evening in the Buick GMC display, Cleveland Browns Running Back Kareem Hunt will be signing autographs from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Autographs will be a first come, first served only on a provided card (no memorabilia will be signed during this appearance).
Thursday March 3rd has the Cleveland Auto Show honoring America’s military, first responders and health care workers with free admission during Northern Ohio Heroes Day. Valid ID must be presented at the I-X Center Box Office. Further information can be found by going to www.clevelandautoshow.com/heroes. Friday, March 4th is your opportunity to grab a new pair of Cleveland Auto Show socks if you are among the first 2,500 to enter the Center. On the last day of the show ten finalists will square off at 5:00 p.m. for the Official Vehicle Giveaway where two lucky winners will win a 36 month lease of either a 2022 Hyundai Sonata or a 2022 Honda Ridgeline Sport (both are official vehicles of the Cleveland Auto Show). You can register anytime during the show at the Official Vehicle Giveaway Booth near the West Main Entrance of the I-X Center.
