The 2022 Piston Powered Show is still going on this evening and through Sunday

Judging by the long lines of cars queuing up on the Berea Freeway to get into the I-X Center it looks like the 2022 Summit Racing I-X Piston Powered Auto-Rama is once again a success and with good reason. For one it is a great family event. There is something for everyone. Kids can get to sit inside a real race car (Quinn Racing) or climb up and into an authentic dragster (Racing Ministries) to name a couple.

There is a giant swap meet with all kinds of collectibles (even car Christmas ornaments) as well as lit up signs and metal advertising signs. The motorcycle area must be seen to be believed with all manner of custom rides as well as antiques and even a collection of mini-bikes.

All manner of the armed forces as well as veterans groups are represented. There is a large assortment of rare military vehicles as well as the Mobile Military History Museum that shows examples of arms dating back to Colonial times up to present (donations are asked for but not required).

Custom semi trucks as well as a slew of antique haulers are a joy to behold. There is also a kids area with tons of gravel and sand for the kids to play in with the supplied metal earth movers.

There are also scores of booths filled with die cast cars, trucks and whatnot as well as plastic models for sale (remember those?). Lastly if you get hungry the I-X Center offers loads of options for lunch and dinner as well as a huge sitting area to enjoy your meal.

The show is open until 9:00 p.m. tonight and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. tomorrow (Sunday, April 3, 2022).
