Canton Charge has loss against Delaware 87ers after fading in the 4th quarter
The Canton Charge (19-17), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers came out strong early on but a relentless offensive drive by the Delaware 87ers (20-16), in the fourth quarter denied the wine and gold a victory as the final score of 117-110 was posted on the record books. The game was viewed by 3,395 fans at the Canton Memorial civic Center the past Friday night.
Kay Felder (on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers) was the game high scorer with 32 points on 13-25 shooting as well as six assists and four rebounds in 35 minutes of play. In his last three appearances with the Charge, Kay has averaged 30.7 points and 6.0 assists. Charge teammate John Holland socred 29 points on 13-of-19shooting with seven assists in 42 minutes on the court. All five Charge starters scored in double figures.
For the second game in a row, Jonathan Holmes earned a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in 43 minutes while Eric Moreland scored his 18th double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds and five blocks in 32 minutes. Roosevelt Jones rounded out the scoring with 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists but was forced out of the game after 22 minutes with an oblique strain.
Leading the Delaware group was Shawn Long who notched a double-double of 23 points and 10 boards in 35 minutes. Russ Smith was good for 20 points and two steals in 23 minutes and James Webb III posted a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds with two steals in 41 minutes of playing time. The 87ers bench outscored the Canton reserves46-9 with Nate Robinson coming off the Delaware bench for 12 points in 28 minutes.
The Canton Charge are part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League and the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, both of which play their games at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland.
