Canton Charge uses late game surge to power over the Westchester Knicks

After an extremely physical game the previous evening against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the Canton Charge (23-17), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, put together a late rally in the fourth for a come from behind victory over the Westchester Knicks (16-23), 120-112, at the Memorial Civic Center on Sunday afternoon. Of special note was the fact that the Charge tied a franchise record of 35 assists on 47 field goals that was set on January 7th of this season in a win over Salt Lake City.

Kay Felder (on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers) led Canton with 26 points and 10 assists in 33 minutes posting his first professional double-double. Eric Moreland added his 20th double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 boards, six assists and two steals in 32 minutes. John Holland added an additional 24 points in 44 minutes. Mike Williams came off the bench to tie a season high 14 points adding six assists in 22 minutes. Gerald Beverly was good for 11 points with five rebounds in 14 minutes coming off the bench. This victory ends the latest homestand at 4-1.

For Westchester it was John Jenkins with 31 points as he hit 13-of-22 with 11 rebounds in 39 minutes. Travis Trice III made good with 18 points with five rebounds in 37 minutes. Keith Wright added 12 points with eight rebounds, five assists and four steals in 33 minutes on the clock. Courtney Fells had 16 points with eight rebounds and five assists in 34 minutes. In all seven Westchester players scored in the double figures.

Canton ends this homestand with a trip to Chicago to face the Chicago Bulls on a Wednesday morning matchup on March 8, 2017. They will be back at the Canton Memorial Civic Center on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. for a game against the Austin Spurs (San Antonio Spurs). It’s Mascot Day as Pozzie and all of his mascot friends will gather for an afternoon of mayhem and fun. The first 500 fans 14 and under will each receive a Charge mini basketball hoop set sponsored by U.S. Safety Gear.

Groups of 20 or more can take part in unforgettable fan experiences such as halftime performances, anthem buddies, high five tunnel, benchwarmers, and more!

The Canton Charge is part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Majority Owner and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League and the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, both of which play their games at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland.
