Canton Charge loss to Erie BayHawks ends playoff streak

It was family day, mascot day, wrestling day, Pozzie bobblehead day and heartbreak day for the fans of the Canton Charge this past Sunday afternoon. The Erie Bay Hawks (26-19) swept into town and defeated the Canton Charge (19-27) 104-108 as 3,591 vocal fans watched. The loss keeps the Charge out of the postseason playoff contention for the first time since their inaugural season in 2011

A total of seven BayHawks players hit the double figure mark with John Gillon scoring a double-double of 20 points and 10 assists with two steals in 34 minutes of play leading the way. Tyler Cavanaugh exploded off the bench for his own double-double of 19 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 22 minutes. The third BayHawk double-double belonged to Jeremy Evans with 12 points and 11 boards as well as three blocks in 32 minutes. Craig Sword added to the score with 16 points and two steals in 36 minutes of court time.

For Canton it was Grant Jerrette with the game high of 21 points and 10 rebounds along with five assists and two steals in 38 minutes. JaCorey Williams also doubled up with 19 points and 11 rebounds in 34 minutes. Cavs assignee Scoochie Smith scored 12 points with six assists and two steals. Arthur Edwards contributed 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting off the bench for Canton, while Isaac Hamilton netted 11 points with four rebounds and six assists in 25 minutes.

The Charge are back home this Tuesday, March 13th for a matchup with the Lakeland Magic (Orlando Magic) at 7:00 p.m. The first 2,000 fans in the Civic Center will receive a Kyle Korver bobblehead presented by Car Parts Warehouse!

The Canton Charge are part of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization and are also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Chairman and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League and the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, both of which play their games at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland.

This included articles concerning sports and cultural events in Cleveland, Ohio as well reviews of the many theatrical productions around town.
