Cleveland Browns ‘super heroes’ pay a visit to UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital

There are few things worse than having to stay in a hospital during a holiday. This is especially true if you are a child and the holiday is Halloween. Members of the Cleveland Browns felt compelled to do something about this. On their Tuesday day off (the day before the Halloween holiday) Cleveland Browns players and staff paid a visit to University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital to visit with patients and staff.

Originally slated for the Halloween party was DL Myles Garrett and Kicker Greg Joseph as well as Cleveland’s favorite mascot Chomps but two other players just could not stay away from the fun. They were TE David Njoku and LB Brad Seaton.

The children spent one on one time with the players making super hero capes using and array of stencils and paste on patches but the real super heroes were wearing orange, white and brown. Each child also received an official Cleveland Browns pennant that the players were more than happy to autograph giving the ecstatic children a wonderful souvenir of the day.

Following the craft session some of the players took the time to go upstairs to the various wards to visit with the children who were unable to attend the party. They brought goody bags to distribute as a way of bringing some joy to the various patients.

The visit is part of the Cleveland Browns Give Back, First and Ten and the #give10 initiative that challenges fans around the world to sign up at https://www.clevelandbrowns.com/ (click on “Community”) and pledge 10 hours of community volunteer work a year. Once completed the fans are asked to return to the site and share their experiences. First and Ten was launched in June of 2014.

UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital is a full service children’s hospital and pediatric academic medical center that features experts in 16 medical divisions and 11 surgical specialties. The center offers such care as adolescent and young adult cancer treatment as well as advanced maternal fetal medicine and neonatology services.
