Canton Charge lose at home against stronger Westchester Knicks team
The best that can be said about this game is that thankfully there were not as many witnesses. The Canton Charge (2-2), and powered b y the Cleveland Cavaliers met defeat against a bigger Westchester Knicks (4-2) 106-95 during their second home game at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
Canton had troubles early on as Westchester led for most of the first half. Following a half time “chat with the guys” the Charge came out to hit three triples on an 11-4 run to take the lead at 61-60. The Knicks took a time out to regroup as they responded with a 9-2 run as they took the lead for good. Westchester piled on the scores to lead by as much as 15 points as their strong defense held Canton to 16-of-52 (30.7%) shooting.
In spite of setting a franchise record of 22 steals in the game (the former record stood at 16) the Charge just could not capitalize with an ensuing basket. JaCorey Williams led the team with 20 points as he hit 9-of-13 with five rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes. Levi Randolph was good for 17 on 4-of-4 from the three point arch plus three steals in 33 minutes. Scoochie Smith scored 14 points and four steals in 32 minutes.
On the other end of the court it was Isaiah Hicks earning a game high 27 points with nine rebounds in 37 minutes. Luke Kornet posted a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds as well as five blocks in 33 minutes. John Jenkins contributed 23 points on 7-of-12 in 35 minutes.
The Canton Charge will be back at the Canton Memorial Civic Center this Friday, November 16, 2018 at 7 p.m. as they battle the Long Island Nets. This is Dollar Dog Night sponsored by Sugardale.
