Canton Charge wins a short handed game against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants
The Canton Charge (14-7), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, took to the floor this past Saturday evening with only eight players as Malik Newman and Levi Randolph missed the game due to illness and Dean Wade was called up by the Cavaliers. In spite of this roster deficit, the remaining players managed to defeat the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (9-12) in overtime, 112-111 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
The many fans attending all received a sweet treat courtesy of Chocolate Creations in the form of a full size chocolate bar with some bars hiding a (wine and) gold ticket good for free tickets to upcoming Cleveland Cavalier games as well as other prizes.
It was a very close game throughout the contest as neither team could seem to dominate. Sheldon Mac bested himself with 37 points having scored 25 points in the first half. J.P. Alan Herndon in his first game since 12-21-2019 was good for 11 points.
After tying in regulation the Charge struck first with a three pointer by J.P. Macura to start the overtime period. That extra point was all that was needed as a video review went infavor of the Charge with mere seconds on the clock.
On the Fort Wayne end of the court Walter Lemon Jr. and Stephen Hicks tied for 21 points each for the night with Ike Nwamu adding 18 points and C.J. Wilcox scoring 16 points. This is Canton’s third win this season against the Mad Ants.
