Canton Charge makes the Capital City Go-Go's gone-gone

As the game began, the Canton Charge (26-13) looked tentative as the visitors took an early 11-9 lead as 3,665 faithful held their collective breath. Soon enough the team caught fire with an 18-5 run as they bowled over the Capital City Go-Go (21-19) 136-112 giving Canton their eight consecutive home victory. It wasn’t even close. The victory brings the season series between the two teams to 2-1. This was “We Are Canton Night” as the team honored local heroes. The first 2,500 fans received a “We Are Canton” T-shirt courtesy of Terminex.

Two-Way player Matt Mooney was the local hero for the team as he reacked up 29 points while going 5-for7 from the arc. He was also top man with six rebounds, five assists and two steals during 31 minutes of floor work. Levi Randolph was second with an equally heroic 23 points as he hit for 57% from the field. Dean Wade made good with 20 points and four boards in 24 minutes.

In Go-Go land it was assignment player Admiral Schofield leading the Capital City group with 18 points in 27 minutes. Ike Iroegbu flew off the bench for 17 points in 20 minutes while Mike Cobbins was the man to beat under the basket as he came up with 11 rebounds and eight points.

The Canton Charge’s next game will be at the world class Rocket Mortgage Field House as they face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Sunday, March 1, 2020. Tip-off time is 3 p.m. Children 14 and under are free with an adult ticket purchase and the first 4,000 fans will receive a bobblehead of sports legend Jim Thorpe courtesy of Visit Canton.

The Canton Charge is part of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization and is also owned by a group led by Cavaliers Chairman and Quicken Loans Founder and Chairman Dan Gilbert. The group also owns and operates the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League, who play their games at Rocket Mortgage Field House in downtown Cleveland.
