Beleaguered Cleveland Charge has winning streak against the Swarm evaporate

The Cleveland Charge (11-15) only managed to suit up eight players as they went up against the Greensboro Swarm (13-25) only to go down in defeat 95-82. It was the annual student and teacher School Day Game as 4,365 screaming new fans filled the Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland. It was a valiant effort but Cleveland simply could not connect with baskets and found the Swarm defense overwhelming.

Dibaji Walker came off the bench to score 15 points along with five assists in 25 minutes. Dexter Dennis added 13 points along with two steals in 39 minutes. Justin Powell was good for 12 points as well as six assists and three steals in 38 minutes. Tray Maddox and Malik Fitts added 12 points for Cleveland along with Zhaire Smith with 10 points. The loss snaps a 10 game winning streak that Cleveland had over Greensboro that goes all the way back to the 2017-2018 season.

On the Swarm side of the court it was Terrell Brown Jr.’s 21 points on 7-of-14 from the field in 27 minutes of relief that led the team. Former Charge C. Marques Bolden earned a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds in 28 minutes. Jaylen Sims was Mr. Utility with his scoring 19 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 32 minutes.

The next home game for Cleveland will be this Friday, March 15, 2024 as we celebrate Women’s History Celebration presented by Athleta. Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m. with the team entertaining the Raptors 905 (Toronto Raptors) for two games. The second contest will be on Sunday March 17th at 4:00 p.m. with the team honoring the best fan base in the G League with Cleveland Salute Night.
