Cleveland Charge get their wheels spun by the Motor City Cruise




It was a valiant effort against the East-leading NBA G League team but in spite of their best effort The Cleveland Charge (3-17), presented by Cleveland Clinic went down in defeat against the Motor City Cruise (16-6) 126-120 this past Tuesday night at the Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland.


The home team was down b y as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter when Cleveland’s Malik Newman stepped up for 20 points in the final quarter on 7-of-10 shooting that enabled the Charge to get within four points. With the score at 122-118 and 24.4 seconds to go Cleveland fouled twice as Motor City hit all of their free throws to guarantee the win. This is the third win for the Motor City Cruise this season against the Cleveland Charge.


On the stats page Newman was high man with 34 points and six assists in 37 minutes. Dylan Windler earned yet another double-double (his third of the season in the last four games) with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting combined with 14 rebounds in 38 minutes. Tacko Fall earned his double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in 27 minutes. Cameron Young and Wes Inundu matched each other in points with 13 each for the Charge.


Up Motor City Way Saben Lee led the Cruise with 31 points and two steals in 35 minutes while Luka Garza scored 24 points along with 12 boards and three steals in 31 minutes. Jamorko Pickett added 16 points to go with his 10 rebounds in 30 minutes. Derrick Walton Jr. showed up to add 16 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in 38 minutes. Cassius Stanley joined in the double digit scoring with 15 points.
