Cleveland Charge gets bombed by the Blue Coats

It was just one of those games. The Cleveland Charge (8-8) could do nothing right and the Delaware Blue Coats (9-5) could do nothing wrong. 4,238 faithful fans stayed to the bitter end with the only bright spot being a last second shot to bring the score for Cleveland past the 100 Free Donuts mark as the Blue Coats bested the Charge by 34 points with the final score being 135-101.

Throughout the game Cleveland kept throwing bricks, having the ball stolen out of their hands (once after a rebound on a missed Delaware free throw) and passes ending up in their opponent’s hands. It was too painful to watch.

Pete Nance led the Cleveland scoring with 22 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes. Emoni Bates hit for 14 points while grabbing three rebounds in 25 minutes. Isaiah Mobley made good with 11 points with seven boards in 23 minutes. The following hit the double digit mark as well: Justin Powell (13 points), Gabe Osabuohien (12 points) and Scotty Hopson (11 points). New arrival Jon Elmore ended the game with seven points, six assists and three steals in his debut.

Stat wise, Delaware hit 57% of their shots from the field as a team leading at one time by 48 points and assisted on 38 of their 50 made baskets. The top scorers were Marcus Bagley with 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting with five rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench. Aminu Mohammed scored 24 points, seven boards and two steals in 32 minutes of relief.

The Charge hit the road for a one game trip to the Indiana Mad Ants on Wednesday, February 7th with tip off scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Catch all the action with Scott Zurilla’s play by play on NEO Sports Radio on the iHeartRadio mobile app.

The team will be back at the Wolstein Center for a Friday evening game scheduled for 7:00 p.m. against the Wisconsin Herd. It is Black Heritage Night presented by Immaculate Cleaning. For more information and to purchase tickets go to https://cleveland.gleague.nba.com/.
