Cleveland Charge has tough home loss to South Bay Lakers

The good news is the Cleveland Charge only play the South Bay Lakers once this entire season. The bad news is that last night they cleaned our clock...took us for a long ride...defeated us handily. With fewer witnesses than usual the Cleveland Charge (10-9) fell to the South Bay Lakers (12-7), 114-95 as the team gets a break and some members head out to the All Star Break in Salt lake City.

During the Cleveland Charge Salute To The Armed Forces Night, South Bay took an early lead and simply kept pouring it on, leading by as much as over 30 points at one point. Cleveland made a bit of a comeback in the fourth quarter to make it look more respectable. It was simply a matter of their shots hit while ours missed. It was frustrating for players and fans alike.

Coming off the Cleveland bench, Blake Francis scored 16 points with three steals in 23 minutes. Sam Merrill hit for 14 points and three steals in 29 minutes. Jamorko Pickett added 15 points with five rebounds in 24 minutes of relief.

For South Bay it was Fabian White Jr. who was good for 23 of the team’s bench 60 points and was the lead scorer for the team and the game. Bryce Hamilton scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting in 30 minutes. As a team, South Bay hit 17-of-33 three pointers for 52%.

Cleveland’s Sharife Cooper and Isaiah Mobley now head out to the All-Star Weekend at the Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City to join some of the brightest of tomorrow in the 2023 NBA G League Next Up Game. The game is scheduled for Sunday, February 19th at 3:00 p.m. EST and will air live on NBA TV.

The team’s next home games will be Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th at the Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland will face the Lakeland Magic for the back to back contests with tip-off for both contests at 7:00 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets go to Cleveland Charge Tickets, 2023 Matchup Schedule & Locations | SeatGeek.
