Cleveland Charge puts together solid team effort for one in a row win against the Greensboro Swarm

Perhaps it was the 11 a.m. tip-off or perhaps the 2,500 screaming Cleveland Metropolitan School District students as part of the annual School Day game, presented by ActNow. Whatever it was it worked. The Cleveland Charge (2-8) of the NBA G League, presented by Cleveland Clinic snapped a six-game losing streak with a 105-96 victory over the Greensboro Swarm (4-5) on Tuesday afternoon at the Wolstein Center.

For once it was the visiting team that developed a case of the yips as their shots bounced harmlessly off the rim more often than not. The first half saw innumerable ties as both teams fought hard under the rim. The turning point was a Tacko Fall dunk (with an assist from R. J. Nembhard) that tied the game at 10:37 in the third quarter that propelled the Charge to a 13-0 run. Nembhard and Josh Heustis outscored the rest of the field with six points apiece in the quarter.

Tacko Fall was high scorer for the game with 27 points as he went 10-for-12 from the floor as well as nine boards and two blocks in 27 minutes. Dylan Windler (on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers) earned a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds combined with four assists in 44 minutes. R. J. Nembhard (a Two-Way player) was good for 14 points, three assists and two steals in 31 minutes.

Leading the Swarm in scoring was D. J. Carton who scored 22 points with five rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes. Arnoldas Kuboka was good for 18 points that included four from the three point arc. Kai Jones (on assignment from the Charlotte Hornets) added 17 points with nine rebounds in 25 minutes.

The Cleveland Charge now heads out of town for a pair of road games against the Long Island Nets with the first game tomorrow night, February 2nd at 7 p.m. at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the second game on Friday, February 4th also at 7 p.m. Fans can watch the contest live on ESPN+ or listen on 1350 AM The Gambler.

The next home game is scheduled for February 8, 2022 at the Wolstein Center with tip off scheduled at 6 p.m.
