Cleveland Charge remains undefeated at home...just barely

It was a tough and physical game that saw lead changes and tied scores through most of the contest. Towards the end of the fourth quarter with just a few minutes remaining, the Cleveland Charge (9-4) went ahead by ten points against the Windy City Bulls (6-4) only to see the lead evaporate as the seconds ticked off.

Sharife Cooper tossed in a free-throw that gave Cleveland a 107-96 edge but the Bulls managed to get tough and a (9-0) run ensued bringing them to within two points. With mere seconds left on the clock the Charge lost possession that gave the Bulls another desperate attempt to tie the game.

Carlick Jones ran into a wall of defenders under the basket and his lay-up attempt fell harmlessly off the rim but the game was not over yet. It took Cooper and Isaiah Mobley’s pair if free throws to negate a Kostas Antetokounmpo basket as the gathered faithful collectively breathed a sigh of relief. As is evident by the amount of blocks and steals it was a brutal game on both ends of the court.

The final score was 109-107 in favor of the home team as they defeated the Windy City Bulls at the Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center on Monday evening. Cooper finished the game with 28 points, nine assists and two steals in 42 minutes of demanding play. Jamorko Picket earned his sixth double-double of this season with 28 points and 10 boards combined with two steals and three blocks in 43 minutes. Isaiah Mobley also earned a double-double (his fourth of the season) with 24 points and 11 rebounds in 40 minutes. Nate Hinton added 11 points and three blocks in 38 minutes.

On the Windy City side it was Jones who lead the Bulls with 22 points on 9-of-21 from the field in 35 minutes. Antetokounmpo (on assignment from the Chicago Bulls) ended up with 21 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in 37 minutes. Malcolm Hill was good for 20 points with six rebounds in 29 minutes. Javon Freeman-Liberty was hot off the bench with 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
