Cleveland Charge wins big in front of record crowd




It was Charge/Marvel Super Hero Night with the largest attendance (4,294) in Cleveland Charge history and the fans were not disappointed with the games outcome. The Cleveland Charge (6-1) defeated division rival the Motor City Cruise (1-6), 120-100 at CSU’s Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.


The Charge took an early commanding lead only to be overtaken by the half. Fighting back through the third period the game was tied at 79-79 as the fourth period got under way. Cleveland rolled off a fast 7-0 run that gave them the lead clear to the end. Hitting 61% of their shots from the field and 63% of their three point attempts in the final 12 minutes they outscored the Cruise 41-21 to take a 2-0 season game lead for the season.


Both Two-Way players for the Charge earned double-doubles with Mamadi Diakite scoring 22 points with 10 rebounds and three steals while his teammate Isaiah Mobley was good for 11 points and 10 boards. Sharife Cooper put in a strong effort with 26 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in 34 minutes. Sam Merrill and Nate Hinton each added 19 points with all five starters scoring double digits.


Motor City scoring had Devontae Cacok with the game high 28 points on 12-of-21 from the field with 12 rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes. Stanley Umude racked up 16 points with eight boards in 36 minutes. Former Charge G R.J. Nembhard added 13 points with three steals in 33 minutes. Rounding out the scoring was another former Charge G member, ShawnDre Jones with 10 points and four assists in 27 minutes.


Cleveland hits the road for a pair of out of town games against division rival Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers). The first game will be shown live on ClevelandCharge.com or you can listen live on NEO Sports Radio on the iHeartRadio mobile app.
