Cleveland fans cry in their beer as misfortune hits all around

It was a tough day to be a Cleveland Sports fan. The Cleveland Browns were handily defeated in Texas during the first round of the playoffs, The Lake Erie Monsters lost in a shootout and the Cleveland Charge (3-3) lost to the Texas Legends (5-2) 120-94. The next morning the sun came out (a rare treat in Cleveland during the winter) and life goes on.

It was the matter of missed shots and missed opportunities as the Charge was simply outplayed throughout the entire game. They did manage to rally within ten points in the fourth quarter but the Legends soon shut the door. The evening was Braille Literacy Awareness Night as the team wore special Braille uniforms and tributes were paid to various local organizations.

For Cleveland it was Sharife Cooper scoring 17 points with five rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes while Malik Fitts hit for 14 points along with five boards in 36 minutes. Pete Nance added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists along with four steals and two blocks in 32 minutes. Justin Powell came in with 13 points, Aleem Ford for 12 points and Zhaire Smith with 11 points for the home team. It was not enough to earn free donuts for the faithful fans who stuck it out for the entire contest.

Texas tornado Greg Brown had the game high 24 points on 9-of-11 from the floor along with seven rebounds in 25 minutes. Jordan Walker added 20 points on 7-of-13 in 23 minutes. Dexter Dennis came off the bench for 16 points along with seven rebounds in31 minutes. This Legend victory snaps an eight game losing streak against Cleveland that began clear back in 2017.

The Cleveland Charge now goes in an extended road trip for the next seven games beginning with a trip to visit the Westchester Knicks on Monday, January 15 at 1:00 p.m. You can catch the game live www.clevelandcharge.com to listen to the play by play of the voice of the Charge, Scott Zurilla on the iHeartRadio mobile app. Cleveland returns on January 31st as they battle the Greensboro Swarm with tip off at 6:00 p.m.
